Studio Update: Week of 2/2- 2/8
This week we had our opening reception. Leading up to this date there were a couple of final touches that needed to get done, such as creating a key of the art on a post card. I am not tech savvy so this took me way longer than it should have but the final product was flawless. I also drew on over 100 paper cups for the refreshments to match the theme of the show. On Saturday we were running around to get things in order. I stopped by please and thank you to get lemonade and cookies, then some wine and sangria from the liquor store. My partner helped me prep some sliced fruit for people to put in their drinks as well. Molly and I stopped by the gallery at about 2:00 to put out the post cards and document the space with nice cameras. Then we got back to the space at about 5:30 to start setting up the food. Shout out to my partner, Cam, for being such a trooper and helping out all day. The opening went better than we could have hoped. The space was filled almost the whole night. I don't think you could have fit another two people in if you tried. The gallery owner said that a lot of people were hanging out in the shop while they waited for some space to open up. After the night finished, Molly, her sibling Joe, Cam and I all went out for a celebratory drink. I am so grateful to have had such a great first show experience. I think the work was received very well and it left me feeling very proud.
